Safeguarding the Data of More Than One in Three Americans
At HMS, we’re trusted to manage data from more than 290 health plans, 40-plus state and federal agencies, and nearly 700 self-funded employers. We’re honored to hold this relationship and work hard to safeguard the data.
HMS protects more than 5.6 petabytes of healthcare data every second of every day. Our focus on security has earned us certification from the Health Information Trust Alliance (HITRUST), the gold standard for recognizing companies that safeguard sensitive information and manage information risk.
The HITRUST CSF (Common Security Framework) incorporates HIPAA, HITECH, PCI, and COBIT requirements into a set of controls that can be integrated with other regulations and security standards, such as NIST, to create a comprehensive solution for protecting sensitive data. The rigorous CSF was developed by the industry’s leading security and technology experts, and features a third-party certification process to ensure an organization has implemented the framework to its intended high standards.
In addition to this certification, HMS is honored to consistently receive recognition from industry experts. In 2017, our Asset Management project was a finalist in the 2017 Tech Exec Network (TEN) Information Security Executive (ISE) Central Project Awards healthcare category. The awards recognize information security teams and projects that demonstrate outstanding leadership in risk management, data asset protection, regulatory compliance, privacy, and network security.
From more than 1,000 project submissions to CSO50, HMS was named 2018 CSO50 Award winner for our Secure Cloud Infrastructure project completed in 2017. The CSO50 Award is a recognized mark of risk and security excellence as CSO provides news, analysis, and research on security and risk management.
We’re proud of each data security recognition we receive. We’re responsible for the healthcare data of one in three Americans, and we have a laser focus on protecting the data of each individual and organization we serve. At HMS, everything we do matters because together we’re making the healthcare system work better for everyone.
